Nissan Warning Lights

Nissan Rear Door Alert dashboard light

You’re on your way to work in Hutto, when an unfamiliar symbol pops up on your instrument display. What does it mean? Nissan warning lights communicate a wide range of information, from service issues requiring prompt attention to reminders to buckle up. In the following guide, Group 1 Nissan Round Rock explains some of the common Nissan dashboard lights and their meanings. Please contact us if you have any questions.

Nissan Dashboard Lights Explained

Some Nissan warning lights are more serious than others, but they all communicate essential information during your trips to Pflugerville. Get to know some of the dashboard lights you might encounter in your Nissan vehicle:

  • Master Warning Light: The Master Warning Light signals that one or more items require immediate attention. You can view the item(s) on the Vehicle Information Display.
  • Seatbelt Warning Light: A red icon with a seatbelted passenger warns you that the driver and/or passengers need to fasten their seatbelt.
  • Airbag Warning Light: A red symbol depicting an inflated airbag indicates an issue with the airbag and seatbelt system. Bring your vehicle in for service promptly if this light appears and stays on, or flashes intermittently while driving in Killeen.
  • Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) System Off Warning Light: This yellow warning light means that AEB is not active and will not assist you until activated.
  • Brake Warning Light: A red “BRAKE” light on your dashboard may indicate that the parking brake is applied. If the light illuminates when the parking brake is not applied, it signals low brake fluid; immediate service is required.
  • Malfunction Indicator Light: Also known as the “Check Engine Light,” this indicator blinks when an engine misfire is detected. If this light comes on and stays steady, an emission control system malfunction has been detected; schedule service immediately.
  • Low Tire Pressure Warning Light: If it comes on and stays steady, this yellow icon of a flat tire with an exclamation mark indicates that one of your tires has low pressure. If it flashes for one minute before staying on, the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) is malfunctioning.
  • Charge Warning Light: If a red battery icon comes on and remains illuminated, there’s an issue with your vehicle’s charging system; schedule service immediately.

The above list is only a brief overview of some of the most common Nissan dashboard lights. If you’re concerned about a dashboard symbol not explained above, call our service team at (512) 681-4866 for help.
